DIY: Literary Confetti

Greetings, everyone! The idea for today's DIY post actually came from my mom, who has been making this confetti for my wedding. It's a simple way to add a personal touch to your big day. All you'll need is an old book or newspaper and a paper punch - I'm using this heart shaped one from Michaels. My mom chose to use an old version of "The Notebook," since a portion of the movie was filmed at our wedding venue, Boone Hall Plantation. DSCN0203 The process is very simple - it's the same as using a hole punch. You can tear the book pages out for easier access. You can also fold a page in half to create two hearts with one punch. I tried to punch out specific words if I saw them, like "love" and "wife." Obviously, if you use a romantic novel, these words are easier to come by!

Be sure to empty your paper punch out from time to time so it doesn't jam up.DSCN0207 DSCN0208

Since this is a tedious process, I bought heart shaped confetti from BHLDN to mix in with it, but you can use anything that matches your color scheme. You can sprinkle the final product down the aisle or across the dessert table, or give it to guests to throw in place of rice at the end of your ceremony.

You could use a children's book for a first birthday party, or a holiday book with a snowflake paper punch for a Christmas party - the options are endless, and it's a super easy project. Happy crafting!
