Life Updates

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a week - I've had a ton of exciting stuff going on! Last week I started a new job as the Creative Director at Lauren Schwarz Photography. I'm doing a lot of graphic design, designing photo cards and wedding albums and working on marketing materials - it's pretty much amazing. Check out Lauren's work - she is fantastic! Last weekend, Reese and I went down to South Carolina for the Gamecocks football game and to handle a few wedding details. We had such a blast with my old college friends - and the Gamecocks won! Great weekend. Here I am with my BFF Candace at the game - oh how I miss wearing dresses and face tattoos for sporting events!photo (1)

On Sunday, Reese and I drove down to Charleston for the night. We had a fantastic dinner at The Ordinary. The restaurant was beautiful - it is in an old bank building and the food was phenomenal. Have you ever heard of Oysters Moscow? Raw oysters topped with creme fraiche, caviar, chives and a splash of vodka. A-MAZING. After dinner we went to The Macintosh for our favorite martini in the world. It's called "Jeremiah's Dirty Little Secret" and its a martini (we get vodka, but you can get gin) with olive juice and bacon and pimento cheese stuffed olives. It's pretty much all of my favorite things in one cocktail.

The next day we met with Ashley Bakery outside of Charleston for a cake tasting. Now, we're not exactly huge cake people, but it was absolutely delicious! The cake we chose is amazing and it's quintessential Charleston - I love it. We're also having a full dessert spread with mini banana cream and apple crumb pies, pecan pie bites, chocolate peanut butter mousse cups, mini fruit tarts, and Charleston chewies. Tasting are obviously my favorite part of the planning process.

Last but not least, I got a new car!! I needed one for my new job so Reese has been on the prowl and handling all of the negotiating and stuff. I'm way too gullible to deal with car salesmen - thank god for my fiance! Here I am being a total cheeseball with my new Jetta! Watch out people, I'm back on the road!

Now that all the craziness has died down a little and we're done traveling for a while, I'll be back on a regular blogging schedule, starting with a new Frenchie Friday tomorrow! So be sure to tune in :)

6 Months Until "I Do"

So, I just realized that I am getting married 6 months from tomorrow (insert panic face here). I still have so much to do! Mostly little things, but it is definitely crunch time. I did just get my proposal from my florist (Whitney at Branch Design Studio) and I love, love, LOVE it! She used my Pinterest board as inspiration, and her vision is perfect. Blush peonies, touches of cotton (for the Cotton Dock!), mason jars overflowing with baby's breath...I could go on and on. Seriously, what did brides-to-be do before Pinterest? It has saved my life. Anyway, to celebrate today's milestone I'm providing another little wedding teaser. This is a custom typography map of Charleston that I designed for our wedding weekend. In addition to mapping out the greater Charleston area, I included our wedding location, Boone Hall Plantation. Also, for those of you attending, we'll be staying in Isle of Palms for the week/weekend - a hop, skip and a jump from the venue. This design will be printed on the welcome bags, most likely. Hope you like it!
