Hello San Francisco!

On Monday, Reese and I spent the day exploring San Francisco from top to bottom. We've never been here before, so we wanted to see as much of it as we could. We stayed at the Westin St. Francis, which is centrally located in Union Square. It's also surrounded by amazing shopping (side note: I actually got lost in the Banana Republic flagship store - it was unreal). Being on East Coast time allowed us to wake up early for once - we rode on cable cars, ate a glutenous brunch in Little Italy, and survived Chinatown all before noon (another side note: I lived in Chinatown in Philly for over a year and I was completely overwhelmed by the chaos that ensued on the streets of Chinatown in SF at 10:30AM on a Monday). I was also completely out of breath after walking a mile because EVERYTHING is up hill. Seriously - if I lived here, I would have great legs. DSCN0145We then got in the car and drove over the Golden Gate bridge to the small coastal town of Sausalito. Such a cool little spot - we stopped and had drinks on the bay at Bar Bocce - an adorable bar with an outdoor bocce ball area. Great wine and a great view - I highly recommend it!DSCN0147DSCN0164DSCN0158Next we stopped to take the typical tourist photo of the Golden Gate bridge - the view was absolutely breathtaking. Now I know what all the fuss is about. DSCN0169 DSCN0168We then headed over to the Golden Gate Park to do some exploring. San Fran is a huge city with a lot of hustle and bustle, but this park was so calm and peaceful I couldn't believe we were still in the city. I probably shouldn't have hiked up a hill in my suede loafers, but the view from the top of the waterfall was worth it!DSCN0177DSCN0192DSCN0186DSCN0195DSCN0198We finished off the day with dinner at Bar Tartine, which was delicious and also had great wine (I'm noticing a pattern here...). Such a great day. One of my favorite things about the city was the Victorian style of all the homes - gorgeous! Here's one of my faves on the corner of California Street - so fitting.DSCN0171

Until next time, San Fran!

Typography Tuesday {5}

Greetings from Palo Alto! I'll be posting about my day in San Francisco a little later, but first, I wanted to share something a little different for today's Typography Tuesday. Below is a free download (woo for free stuff!) for a desktop wallpaper that I created. It's currently the background on my MacBook - I needed something to remind me to chill the heck out from time to time. I think this accomplishes that, but it's still fun! Click on the photo for the full size and then save it to your desktop.  Enjoy!type
