Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! I certainly did - it was actually pretty relaxing. I definitely didn't take on the Black Friday crowds, so that certainly helps the relaxation factor. Stay tuned for a few holiday gift guides in the next couple of weeks! I plan to highlight awesome yet wallet-friendly gifts for both guys and girls. In the mean time, here is a little typography in honor of the cold weather and one of my favorite holiday songs:Fonts used: Simon Script and KG Hard Candy Solid
Reese and I finally did our wedding registry the other day! We already had our honeymoon registry set up through Traveler's Joy for our trip to Paris and Barcelona next May, but my mom encouraged us to do a smaller registry of traditional items as well for the shower. Also, some guests do like to give an actual gift, so it's a good idea to have the best of both worlds. It's also a lot of fun (and a rite of passage) to walk around the store with the scanner and pick out everything you could possibly need. A citrus zester? A flour sifter? Why not! We decided on Crate&Barrel for 2 reasons - we love their simplistic, clean style and they have a little bit of everything from every price point, from rolling pins to a Vitamix (of course I registered for this. Will I get it? Who knows, but I've been told I HAVE to have one).
Below are a few of our favorite items from our registry list at Crate&Barrel - enjoy! 1. KitchenAid Artisan Almond Cream Stand Mixer, 2. Mario Batali Red 6-Quart Dutch Oven, 3. Soup Tureen with Ladle, 4. Bodum Chambord 34 ounce French Press, 5. Flow Chip and Dip, 6. Brass Letter S Wall Art all from crateandbarrel.com
Yesterday, I stopped by my favorite juice bar on South Street, Sip-N-Glo, and was instantly inspired by their simple, yet charming interior. It felt so festive with all of their fall decor along the windowsill, I could almost smell the crisp, autumn air. Of course, once I stepped outside I was smacked in the face by 80-degree humidity and my dreams of fall weather were crushed. Seriously, it's October - I want to wear my sweaters and boots already! Okay, enough with my rant...I love the rustic and natural fall look, and it is so simple to create at home! Gourds, pumpkins, corn and mums can all be found at your local grocery store. You can also purchase a vintage crate like the one below on Etsy. And how adorable is this little flowering kale plant? I've never seen one before, but I absolutely love it! So fitting for a juice bar. The store is always decorated with mason jars and fresh flowers, regardless of the season. There is an awesome light fixture made from an old crate that I love, and the collection of mirrors and frames and the "take one, leave one" book shelf give it such a welcoming, neighborhood feel. Not to mention, their juices and smoothies are delicious, the staff is super friendly and they always play Bob Marley music. It instantly lifts my mood. Next time you're near South Street, definitely stop on in. I recommend the "Buzzed" smoothie with coffee grounds, banana, almond milk, cacao and honey - finally a way to combine my morning smoothie and coffee. Brilliant!
